Morbark 6600 Offers High-Volume Grinding

        The Morbark 6600 Wood Hog is a high-production horizontal grinding machine for processing wood waste.

        It was manufactured specifically with on-the-move contractors in mind and can be easily moved from one job site to another. It is equipped with a sliding fifth wheel pin and movable third axle for easy portability.

        The Morbark 6600 Wood Hog is available with power options ranging from 760 hp to 1,000 hp. The 42-inch by 67-inch hammermill, equipped with heavy-duty 28-inch diameter rotors, is laser-cut for precise tolerances and durability. The infeed is 14 inches wider than the Morbark 5600 Wood Hog. Screen sizes range from 2 inches to 10 inches.

        Many components are designed for ease of maintenance and up keep, such as replaceable wear strips under the infeed, hydraulic clutch and full ‘break away’ torque limiter.

        The Morbark 6600 Wood Hog is equipped with the Morbark Iqan Feed System for truly variable, automatically adjustable feed rates, pressures and feed wheel positions. The system provides optimum production and engine efficiency.

        Optional equipment includes magnetized end pulley, hydraulic reversing fan, leaf spring suspension, radial stacking conveyor, and satellite linkage for Morbark’s variable feed system.

USNR Announces Orders, Installations

        USNR, a leading supplier of sawmill machine systems, announced a number of new orders and installations.

        New South Lumber in Conway, S.C. ordered a Smart TriCam lineal bucking optimization system provided through ASM.

        Toler & Son Lumber ordered a Perceptron-USNR controls system for its new USNR resaw machine to be installed at its mill in Leola, Ark.

        Scotch Lumber in Fulton, Ala. replaced the scanning and optimization system on its curve sawing gang with TriCam lineal smart scanning and optimization provided through Optimil, which also is supplying new controls for the machine.

        Weaber Lumber in Lebanon, Penn. ordered a retrofit of its USNR hardwood transverse edger with TriCam smart scanning and optimization.

Tigercat Acquires 3 Facilities of Suppliers

        Tigercat has significantly increased its manufacturing capacity by acquiring three facilities from associated suppliers, MacDonald Steel and Manufacturers Metalfab. The company made the moves in response to steadily growing demand for its forestry equipment, it said.

        The acquisitions will benefit the company in a number of ways. Floor space for assembling Tigercat machines will be greatly expanded. The relocation of skidder and forwarder assembly operations will reduce lead time for steel fabrications and eliminate transport costs of bulky steel components. Skidder frames, grapple tongs and cabs will be fabricated in one bay and assembled into finished machines in an adjacent bay. “Our manufacturing efficiency will be considerably enhanced,” said plant manager Martin Jennings.

        The acquisition increases Tigercat’s workforce from about 260 to over 600 employees and adds nearly 400,000 square feet of space.

Iggesund Tools Supplies Knives to Southern Mills

        Iggesund Tools announced orders for several mills in the South.

        The International Paper mill in Whitehouse, Fla. ordered two Iggesund Tools Progressive Outside Wing Edge Repositioning (POWER) heads for its canter line. A direct replacement for step knife heads, the new POWER heads increase the proportion of acceptable chips, simplify knife changes and reduce maintenance requirements. International Paper ordered the new style heads under the Iggesund PartnerChip® program, which supplies Iggesund’s latest chipping head technology under a fixed, monthly operating cost.

        Georgia Pacific’s mill in Bay Springs, Miss. also joined the Iggesund Partner Chip program for chipping heads on its chip-n-saw.

        Varn Wood Products in Hoboken, Ga. selected Iggesund Tools to provide chipping heads on a new small log machine being supplied by Cone Machinery.

        Iggesund Tools also will supply new chipping heads for the Comact DDM canter at PBS Lumber Manufacturing in Winnfield, La.
