S.C. Mill Installs Iggesund POWER Heads for Canter

New South installed Iggesund Tools’ Progressive Outside Wing Edge Repositioning (POWER) heads for its end dog canter at its mill in Conway, S.C. The company improved quality and production and controlled operating costs under the Iggesund Tools Partner-Chip program. Additionally, New South decided to upgrade its chipper to the Iggesund Tools TurnKnife System with helical face technology.

Gilman Building Products has begun using Iggesund Tools chipping heads on chip-n-saw canters and reman edgers at its six mills in Georgia and Florida. Each mill has experienced a reduction in green target and an increase in yield since the changeover.

The Potlatch mill in Warren, Ark., is upgrading another mill chipper to the Iggesund Tools TurnKnife System with helical face technology. It expects to improve chip quality and control operating costs with this second installation.

The 42-inch diameter by 67-inch hammermill is equipped with heavy-duty 28-inch rotors; the hammermill components are laser cut for precise tolerances and added durability.

The Caterpillar 330L undercarriage provides a full 18 inches of ground clearance and a wide stance for steep grades.

Bandit Offers New Hydraulic-Feed Chipper

Bandit Industries has developed a new model in its line of brush chippers, the model 1290-H. It is a hydraulic-feed, drum-style chipper.

The Bandit model 1290-H has a 37-inch diameter drum, enabling it to cut effectively with the bottom half of the drum. Cutting with a downward arc and on an angle allows the machine to chip with ease, consuming less fuel.

The Bandit model 1290-H has a larger chipper opening and powerful feed system so it can process large-limbed material with limited trimming. It produces uniform, dimensional chips.

The Bandit model 1290-H is available with gas or diesel engine options up to 130 hp. It is also available as a self-propelled unit with a Caterpillar 304 rubber track undercarriage.

Popular options include hydraulic winch, hydraulic or mechanical swivel discharge spout, and Auto Feed Plus feed system governor.
