Industry Plans Full Slate of Machinery Shows in ’07

February kicks off a full slate of forest products industry trade shows that will be held throughout the U.S. in 2007 along with a leading trade show in Europe. In all, at least 16 major or regional trade shows will be held, showcasing equipment for logging, timber harvesting and chipping to sawmills and lumber remanufacturing.

Leading off the year is the Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference & Equipment Show, which will be held Feb. 8-10 in Anderson, Calif. Also this month, the Oregon Logging Conference & Equipment Exposition, which will be held Feb. 22-24 in Eugene, Ore.

The In-Woods Expo, sponsored by the Forest Resources Association, will be held April 26-28 in Hot Springs, Ark. It features actual demonstrations of logging equipment in timber harvesting settings.

May will be one of the busiest months of the year for trade shows with six events planned. One of the major trade shows of the Northeast, the Northeastern Forest Products Equipment Exposition, will be held May 4-5 in Bangor, Maine.

In a significant change, the Midwest Forest Industry Show will be held May 11-12 in St. Charles, Mo. This trade show, a leading machinery show of the pallet industry, in the past has been held in the month of September.

The Oklahoma Forestry Conference & Equipment Expo will be May 9-11 in Wagoner, Okla., the West Virginia Timber and Wood Products Show May 11-12 in Flatwoods, West Virginia, and the Sawlex Sawmill & Logging Expo May 18-19 in Columbia, S.C. The Ligna World Trade Fair for Forestry and Wood Industries is scheduled May 14-18 in Hannover, Germany.

Timber 2007 will be held June 1-2 in Rock Springs, Penn., and the Forest Products Machinery and Equipment Exposition will be held June 21-23 in Atlanta. Las Vegas will host the Wood Industry Forum and Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers Fair July 18-21.

Three trade shows are planned in September – the Lake States Logging Congress Sept. 6-8 in Escanaba, Mich., the North Star Expo Sept. 14-15 in Bemidji, Minn., and the Kentucky Wood Expo Sept. 21-22 in London, Ky.

The year will draw to a close with the Paul Bunyan Show Oct. 5-7 in Cambridge, Oh.

Contact information for many of these trade shows is provided in our Calendar department, printed on page 24 of this issue.
