Fecon Introduces FTX350 Carrier

Fecon has introduced the new FTX350 track carrier. It is a steel track carrier that is capable of high production in tough terrain or on soft ground, open or compact work environments.

The Fecon FTX350 is available in various track width options. Coupled with the machine weight of about 28,000 pounds, it produces ground pressure as low as 3.4 psi.

The Fecon FTX350 is powered by a powerful Cummins Tier III engine and is equipped with the Fecon BH99HD Bull Hog® mulcher. The mulcher has an 86-inch cutting width and offers a 30-degree lateral tilt for efficient mulching on uneven terrain.

The Fecon FTX350 comes standard with an LCD screen with computer monitoring system and user-friendly controls for easy, comfortable operation.

Options include a 25,000-pound Ramsey winch, Espar Heater (coolant and hydraulics) and winter cleats.

Applications for the Fecon FTX350 include land clearing, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, site preparation, fire breaks, habitat improvement, brush removal, processing logging slash, and more.

Dorsey Trailer Becomes Third Division of Pitts

Pitts Enterprises has acquired the assets of Dorsey Trailer, including Dorsey’s 800,000-square-foot plant in Elba, Ala. The purchase was completed in June, according to Jeff Pitts, president of Pitts Enterprises.

Dorsey Trailer will continue to manufacture a variety of over-the-road trailers bearing the Dorsey nameplate, including refrigerated vans, dry freight vans, deep drop furniture vans, open top and closed top chip vans, fruit haul trailers, and flatbed trailers.

David Dorsey, an Elba native, was named General Manager of Dorsey Trailer. David is a third generation descendant of the founders of the company, which began manufacturing truck trailers in the early 1920s.

With the acquisition, Pitts Enterprises now owns and operates three trailer divisions: Pitts Trailers in Pittsview, Ala., Dynaweld Trailers in Columbus, Ga., and Dorsey Trailer.

Pitts Trailers was recently classified by industry sources as the 22nd-largest truck trailer manufacturing company in the nation. The company was founded by Jeff’s father, Andrew, in 1976.

Pitts Trailers is the largest producer of forestry-related trailers in the nation, according to the company, while Dynaweld specializes in heavy-haul and tag-along trailers.

Rockland Offers LF Series of Log Grapples

Rockland Manufacturing designed the LF Series log grapples with input from sawmills for improved efficiency, reliability and capacity.

The Rockland LF Series log grapples features a low profile frame that allows the operator to see the tips at ground level for improved visibility. Adjustable, floating tines automatically compensate for uneven terrain.

The grapples are built with tough, high-strengthened rectangular alloy steel tubing and feature oversize pins. Chrome-plated rods are induction-hardened and heat-treated, and high-temperature, long-life O rings and seals add reliability.

The Rockland LF Series log grapples are available in two widths. The LF-1 grapple can be manufactured for parallel linkage or center bell crank machines; it has a single center-mounted clamp for positive load control while minimizing weight and cost. The LF-W grapple has a new, wider, dual-cylinder clamp that passes between the forged tines for maximum load control; it will close on a single log and can open extra-wide for efficient handling of stacked material.

Rockland designs and manufactures custom and standard attachments for loaders, dozer, excavators, graders and skid steers.
