Tigercat Clambunk Skidder Designed for Shovel Logging
The Tigercat C640 clambunk skidder is a unique transporter designed specifically for shovel logging applications. Designed to work in tandem with a shovel logger, it offers the advantages of higher production levels than conventional skidders and reduced site degradation.

The Tigercat C640 clambunk skidder incorporates all the 630 B series changes, including a 240 hp Cummins after-cooled engine and the all new cross-flow heat exchanger arrangement.

The high capacity cooling system orients the radiator and oil cooler perpendicular to conventional systems; air flows sideways, passing unobstructed over the coolers. Air flow is accomplished with a hydrostatic powered, variable speed, reversible fan.

The hydrostatic drive, combined with Tigercatís single-ratio transfer case, allows infinitely variable speed control from 0-9 mph. Maximum horsepower is always available regardless of wheel speed. Gear shifting is eliminated, and the operator uses one pedal to go forward and another to travel in reverse. Smooth starts and stops minimize wheel spin and cause less stress on driveline components.

The isolation mounted, tilting cab is quiet and spacious with air conditioning, adjustable suspension seat, and one low-effort joy stick controlling the clamís independent tong operations and differential lock functions. The seat and controls are rotated 40 degrees to the right for reduced neck strain, an arrangement that offers an advantage in shovel logging because it is often not possible to turn the machine around on the mat.

The Tigercat C640 clambunk skidder can pull two to three times as much wood per load as conventional skidders because the large capacity clam elevates the load for less resistance.
