Timberjack Machine Converts Tops, Limbs into ‘Slash Logs’

The Timberjack 1490D Energy Wood Harvester compresses forest harvest residues (tops and limbs) into dense bundles that can be easily transported and stored for use as biomass fuel. The machine picks up tops and branches, compresses them, and wraps and cuts a ‘slash log.’ The bundling process is continuous, with no limit on
the length and type of the material bundled. Bundle length can be selected by the operator.

The Timberjack 1490 is equipped with a turbo-charged, inter-cooled John Deere diesel engine. The bundling process is controlled by an integrated Total Machine Control system. The hydrostatic-mechanical power transmission, also controlled by the TMC system, is the same as the Timberjack 1410 forwarder. The bundling system is already in active in use in Europe and has been introduced in North America.
